And the episodes about Subaru and Seishirou really broke my heart for moooonths. Now, almost 15 years later since I watched it, I see it in a different way than back then (back then in my teen my it was pure romance hahaha) but now I can not agree more with you! Their relationship IS twisted, IS NOT healthy but its tragically romantic in its own way. A way that only Clamp could do so back then (nowdays there are a looot of BL stories that are toxic but for the mere issue of being it, Subaru and Seishirou are toxic because they had so many back stories who made them like that... I dont know if Im explaining myself haha)

Anyway, I didnt want to go without leaving you a comment. The only love expressed by others towards Seishirou has only been situations where they would be his victims. You could argue Hokuto died indirectly by way of the one she loved as well - the only reason she was there with Seishirou was to protect Subaru. So all acts of love Seishirou has experienced has ended bloody, it tracks that rhe only way he knew to show Subaru he loved him was to die by his hand.
Everything hurts and I love it.Jenn Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11152387163077632523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6476602396408053301.post-13642137162055589252017-11-27T02:51:59.060-08:002017-11-27T02:51:59.060-08:00Oh hello there! CLAMP has really written a compelling and poignant failed romance between these two; this version of a Romeo and Juliet tragic romance is even far better than that trope because you can honestly understand and feel for yourself how stressful it was to be in love with someone whom you can never be sure--even as they draw their last breath--if they ever loved you back or even capable of it. YES! You should re-read them esp the tie-in moments in X/1999!

Thanks for stopping by and sorry for the late response!Frankh Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08256065850655289424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6476602396408053301.post-38537228907488181402017-09-17T22:35:20.964-07:002017-09-17T22:35:20.964-07:00Oh man, what a lovely post to come across in my re...Oh man, what a lovely post to come across in my referrals! (I'm Larissa, the owner of the Seishirou/Subaru fansite you linked near the bottom of this post, and I'm tickled that you quoted me.) Seishirou/Subaru is one of those pairings that makes you wonder why anyone would want so much pain, but man, they're some great tragedy. Really, this whole post is fantastic, and I especially love the comparison you made between Tokyo Babylon and xxxHolic -- it's been so long since I read the latter that I forgot they even were that similar. Now I want to go back and reread all my CLAMP manga, haha.Larissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03299690908920786942noreply@blogger.com
